BESIX Ballast Nedam (BBN) Limited, the CONTRACTOR for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the Jetty and Load Out Facilities in the Tanga Bay for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Project, invites job application for Junior Lifting Engineer.

Purpose and scope of assignment

• Act as technical advisor of lifting service.
• Promote safe lifting operation referring HSE policies and international standard.
• Manage lifting cargo personnel.
• Ensures the promotion/implantation of LMS and safe culture on site.
• Participates in the definitions of the LMS and participates in the internal audits by competent Person for lifting Operations.
• Anomaly reporting on all lifts.

Job responsibilities

• Provide knowledge in daily lifting activities including categorization of lifts.
• Risk assessment and hazard identification.
• Assist SLS in technical review of lifting operations.
• Performance of toolbox talk.
• Post-job debriefs.
• Assessment of completed jobs.
• Periodic review of generic lift plans.
• Promote safe lifting operation referring to the relevant HSE policies and applicable standard.
• Review engineering calculations for complex and complicated lifts.
• Review complicated and complex lift plan under supervision of SLS.
• Perform condition check and fitness for purpose on lifting appliances, Cargo Carrying Units – CCS and evaluate their utilization on site.
• To be involved in lift planning, internal audits of the lifting operations.
• participates in lifting operations incident investigation and analyses.

Accountability

• Assess, analyses, plan and adjust lifting operations on site under SLS regarding Procedure and relevant Rules
•        Maintain systematic and methodological approach to lifting Operations, assist SLS to establish a reliable system for documentation, processes, and personnel competence.
• Ensure flawless operation of lifting ops and continuous improvement of on site Qualification and Experience

Job qualification, experience and skills.

Applicant should possess the following.

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related qualifications.
• Proof of attendance on Lifting Trainings is an added advantage.
• 1+ year experience in lifting planning operations and rigging is necessary.
• Previous experience especially for offshore works is an added advantage.
• Physical fitness and must have the physical capacity to lift or position heavy loads.
• Well-developed communication and teamwork skills since tasks depends on team work.
• Concern for safety for avoiding all foreseeable risks.
