ABOUT GEITA GOLD MINING LTD

Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Applications are invited from ambitious, energetic and performance driven individuals to fill in vacant position(s) mentioned below:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Purpose of the role is to perform and complete all task assignments so that all the HME/LME equipment on site are maintained to the original equipment manufacturer standards (OEM) and provide “fit for purpose” to the mining operations team for safe and efficient use in achieving the business plan.  By using the correct work methods and safety precautions, to the required quality standard, completing tasks on time, and effectively using the resources given for each task. Tasks assignments, including housekeeping, inspections, electrical works, and other assignment related to the Auto Electrical workshop. The aim of this role is to assist the Senior Supervisor in reducing the re-do work for all the work executed within the Auto Electrical work function and thus reduce the MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure). As a Coordinator 2 – Auto Electrical you will be expected to provide guidance and support to the team when needed.

 

QUA   QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with the following additional qualifications
  • VETA Level Three Certificate in Auto Electrical or its equivalent
  • VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One Auto Electrical or its equivalent
  • Must possess valid Tanzanian licence with driving GGM site permit.
  • Supervision and Management skills is an added advantage

EXP      EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5 – 10 years’ working experience in Mining environments with knowledge and experience in the maintenance of Auto Electrical work System and Air Conditioning
  • Ability in Troubleshooting Auto Electrical related work
  • Knowledge and procedures for the repairs and maintenance of all HME/LME Mining Equipment
  • Proven experience in Troubleshooting and maintenance of Auto Electrical System

 

MAI   MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure that the work is conducted in a safe working practices and procedures in the Workshop and GGM at large.
  • Ability to operate required tools and equipment in a safe and accountable manner.
  • Must be able to use approved work methods to solve problems and decide what to take or not to take.
  • Must have decision making skills to perform a task assigned to you in the safest and most efficient not to jeopardize safety or production.
  • Engage with the work execution teams to contribute to planning details from those expected to do the work.
  • Incorporated work execution team into planning packages.
  • Plan work to minimize impact on operating performance without exceeding the required by date for work completion.
  • Meet work delivery deadlines to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the required by Date for work completion.
  • Demonstrate work behaviours consistent with the Company values and work within prescribed boundaries, including required behaviours, company policies, standards, procedures, and legislation requirements
  • Observe all safety requirements relevant to the job in hand
  • Report to Supervisor any unsafe equipment immediately
  • Ensure that the work is performed to the OEM’S requirements, and that best fitment and installation practices are adhered to and impacted to the workforce
  • Conduct inspection of equipment’s for damages or defect and records findings.
  • Be able to plan work before execution
  • Do all the repair works accordingly.
  • Meet work delivery deadlines to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the required by Date for work completion.
  • Always maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Carry out work as required or directed.
  • Repair equipment and report completion of tasks to Supervisor

 

  ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sound knowledge on health, Safety and Environmental issues and procedures.
  • He / She must be physical and mentally fit and hard working
  • Must be able to work with Minimum Supervision
  • Good communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good commitment to deliver
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good in Microsoft skills
  • Be able to read and understand maintenance manual book and keep daily logs /records.
  • Knowledge of record keeping.
  • Time management skills.
